One of my closest friends turned 30 today. I ordered her a gift a few weeks ago but learned it wouldn’t be delivered until *after* her birthday. After a short freak out, I decided to make her a “filler” gift until the real one arrived.
The question was, what type of gift should I get her? I knew she likes nice letters, jokes, and candy – so I thought, “Why not combine all three?”
I’ve always wanted to make a candy gram, but never had the motivation to make one…until now! I ended up using the following saying:
“If I had {100 Grand} I’d take you
on a shopping {Spree} to
New {York}!! Thank you for {Mounds}
of conversation, millions of
{Snickers}, and for being {Nerds} with me!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to an {Extra} special friend.
I love you to {pieces}.
From your favorite {Airhead}.
I love the way this turned out! Below are directions, a shopping list, and a free download to you to make your own! Now – get ready to shop for some goodies!!
Supplies
Here’s a list of supplies needed. These are the types of candy I used – feel free to substitute!
- White foam board (20″ x 30″)
- Birthday candy gram (download here)
- Tape, glue, or glue dots
- 100 Grand bar
- Sprees (5-oz box)
- York Peppermint Pattie
- Mounds bar
- Snickers bar
- Nerds (1.6-oz box)
- Extra gum
- Reese’s pieces (1.5-oz bag)
- Airhead
Note: I ordered these foam boards and used these Glue Dots (both worked great!).
Directions
This card was super easy to put together – the hardest part was resisting the temptation to eat the candy! I bought extra just in case (wink, wink).
- DOWNLOAD + PRINT. First you need to download and print the candy gram. You can download the file by clicking here. Once downloaded you can print the file at Staples. They have large, black and white “Engineering prints” available for $3.59!
- CUT. Cut the card out by following along the black outline.
- GLUE. Glue the candy gram onto a piece of foam board. I used Glue Dots along the edges of the paper and it worked like a charm!
- ATTACH. Attach the candy! You can follow my recommendations or create your own candy combinations! I used a glue dot on each piece of candy to attach it to my board.
And that’s it! Be sure to sign your card at the bottom. Or go crazy and add some additional decorations – I used ink pads to make thumbprint balloons.
Then get ready to surprise your friend or family with this great card! (My friend loved hers!!) These are such a fun alternative to traditional birthday cards – guaranteed to bring some smiles!
Did you scroll all the way down to the bottom and not find the download link? If so, you can download the printable right here:
