Alright, let’s be honest… It’s well established how much I love countdowns. (Need proof? Click here, or here, or here.)
I’ve been trying to think of a fun birthday countdown for my Dad for awhile now. After weeks of brainstorming, I finally came up with… A Birthday Garland!
So, here we are again with another birthday countdown! (No joke, this is probably my favorite one to date!)
This was seriously fun (and easy!) to do. Just follow these simple steps:
First grab some countdown cards (you can download them below – for FREE!), Seran wrap, candy, photos (optional), and string!
Start by printing and cutting out my free countdown cards (you can grab them at the bottom of this post).
Cut out the cards and write in a date under the “Do Not Open Until” line. (You may have to look at a calendar for this part.)
Now, unroll the Seran wrap on the floor (I used approximately eleven feet).
Lay your photos out on the Seran wrap. Try to space them evenly (I spaced mine approximately six inches apart). (Sorry, the Seran wrap is hard to see in this photo – it blends in with the carpet!)
Put some candy on top of each photo.
Now place a countdown card on top of each one. (Start at the left-hand side with number one, then work your way to the right until you reach ten.)
Now, fold the Seran wrap over your bundles (sort of like a burrito).
Take some string and tie a bow before and after each countdown card.
Make sure to tie a bow before and after each one. This means there will be two bows between each section.
Now hang up the garland and get ready to count down!
Each day, you can cut down a piece of the garland (this is why you need a bow before and after each card!).
Cut between the bows so the rest of the garland doesn’t fall apart.
Each day your birthday boy or girl gets to enjoy the package inside!
My Dad is going to love the photos of his grandchildren. And since my Mom doesn’t keep a lot of sugar in the house, he’s really going to love the candy bars!
This is a fun and decorative way to countdown to anyone’s birthday!

Enjoy! And Happy Birthday to you and yours!
