DIY: Halloween Mummy Canvas

This week I’m going to show you how to make these three beautiful Halloween art pieces for your walls… The best part is, they’re all inexpensive and ridiculously easy to make!

Today we’ll work on the first piece:  the Halloween Mummy Canvas

Materials Needed:

  • Canvas (I used an 11″x14″)
  • Black Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • White Streamers
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Glue

Let’s get started!

First, I painted my canvas black. (Like my paint towel? Needless to say, it’s been used for a few projects!)

After the paint dried I cut the white streamers into strips and started to wrap… and wrap… and wrap. I used glue to keep each piece in place. (You could also use a staple gun, hot glue gun, tape… Whatever you’re most comfortable with!)

Be sure to wrap the streamers at different angles and do lots of overlapping.

I left a small gap about 2/3 of the way down my canvas for the wiggle eyes. Once I glued the two eyes in place I added a few more white streamers to get the look I wanted.

When I was happy with the piece I flipped the canvas over to trim the edges.

And the piece was done!

TOTAL COST AND TIME:  This cute piece only took 45-minutes to make (it took 30-minutes for the paint to dry) and can be used year after year! I bought all my materials at Hobby Lobby. (I already owned the paint brush, scissors and glue.)

  • Canvas – $3.75
  • Black Paint – $0.99
  • Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • White Streamers – $0.68
  • Wiggle Eyes – $0.99
  • Glue

TOTAL COST:  $6.41  /  TOTAL TIME:  45-minutes
